What is Tempo Timesheets for Jira?
With more than 18,000 instances in 115 countries, Tempo is by far the most popular solution for time tracking in Jira. At Qotilabs, we’ve learned that a significant number of our customers use Tempo on a daily basis and wanted to integrate Tempo elements into their Rich Filter dashboards. Because we also see a lot of value in this integration, we’ve worked hard and are happy to announce that we have added dynamic filtering support for Tempo Accounts and Teams.
How does it work
One of the core features of the Rich Filters for Jira Dashboards Add-on – particularly relevant in the context of the integration with Tempo – is the ability to define quick filters on dashboards. When a quick filter is selected, all the other gadgets refresh their data based on the recently set quick filter.
Tempo provides natively two Jira custom fields: Account and Team. Starting with version 1.8 of the Rich Filters Add-on, both fields can be used in order to define dynamic filters. The dynamic filters for the two fields work like the dynamic filters for any other fields. As soon as the Tempo Account dynamic filter is added to the dashboard, a drop-down menu will display all the accounts the issues on dashboard belong to. The user can click on any account, or group of accounts, and the dashboard will focus solely on those ones. The same applies to the Tempo Team field too. This way, a single dashboard can transform and replace dozens of specific dashboards.
Here is a 1 minute video showing this powerful principle in action:
The use cases are not hard to imagine. In a few clicks you can see the issues, relevant statistics, and charts for a team, for an account, or for several teams addressing the issues belonging to specific accounts. Combine all this with other relevant filters and outputs (issue count, time spent or story points) and you can obtain a dozen of dashboard configurations in seconds.
